According to BusinessDictionary.com, perks are “privileges granted to employees in addition to their salaries and benefits,” and may include such things as “the company car, vacations, reserved parking spaces, spacious offices, private dining and washroom facilities, etc.”

It’s the “etc.” that seems to be changing with the times.

Until recently, most discussions of perks focused on what high-tech companies in Silicon Valley were offering their employees: free gourmet meals, 24-hour gym, yoga classes, on-site nutritionist, massage therapy, concierge service, discounted artwork, auto detailing, even botox injections and bring-a-pet-to-work day.

Traton Homes is now offering single-family detached homes from the mid $500,000s in the heart of Buckhead at Valley Brook Parc. Homes in the community were originally slated to be priced from the $800,000s, but Traton Homes was able to attain homesites at a reduced cost, passing the savings on to home buyers.

Valley Brook Parc is a private enclave of only 18 Atlanta new homes, tucked away near Chastain Park. In its first week of sales, five home buyers wrote contracts, leaving only 13 sites available.

Sutton Group West Coast Realty has been named the largest real estate brokerage in Canada by U.S.-based research group Real Trends.

With 17 offices and over 1,750 sales reps, Sutton Group West Coast Realty had 14,577 transaction sides in 2010 and a closed sales volume last year of a whopping $8.4 billion. The original Sutton Group office in Canada, the company was founded in 1983 by entrepreneurs Scott Shaw and Lance Tracey, who are still investors.
